Thanks to everyone who participated in the Wyoming netTrekker d.i. Scavenger hunt!

The winners of the final week's prizes are:
Hotmath Subscription valued at $799 - Linda Cockett at Torrington Middle School in Goshen County School District
$10 Starbucks Giftcard - Noreen Leatham at Pineview Elementary - Natrona County School District #1

As a reminder, the WDE’s contract with WEdgate expires June 30th. If your school or district would like to continue with netTrekker d.i.
please contact Mike Casagrande at 1-877-517-1125 ext. 3041 or mcasagrande@nettrekker.com for more information.

Here are the questions and answers from the quiz

1. From the Middle Tab, do a Subject Drill Down using Mathematics>General Mathematics>Basic Arithmetic Skills>Operations>Order of Operations. Using the Learning Aids refinement drop-down, select Learning Games. Of the 10 search results, how many have a readability level that is above the usual Middle school range? (2: Our Readability Levels of 4 and 5 are for 9th grade and up)
2. Click on "Hotmath.com" in the More Resources box. How many Pre-Algebra textbooks are currently supported by Hotmath's help, in the green Text by Subject listing? (This question was disregarded, as the combination of a less-than-perfect question and the information in Hotmath confused many respondents. There are 19 resources, but one is a Hotmath workbook, and two of the resources won’t be available until September, so 16 should have been the answer.)
3. From the High tab, do a Keyword Search for “polynomials.” On the first page of results, choose “Purplemath: Multiplying polynomials” and find out what Purplemath says is the warning is about the FOIL method of multiplying polynomials? (Here’s the quote: “you can ONLY use it for the special case of multiplying two binomials. You can NOT use it at ANY other time!”)

Thanks again for all the participation!

Check out the NT101 Alumni group to see what they're saying and whether you think it will help in your school, district, or classroom.

I knew I'd forget something!

Here are the questions and answers from week 3:

1. Go to My Portfolio > ? > My Portfolio Tutorials and view the 90 second “My Portfolio for Teachers” video (you may have to scroll down past the Atomic Learning tutorials). According to the narration and bulleted points, what are the 3 main ways teacher can use My Portfolio? Access and share resources to the School District, or a Class; Save and Share Selected Resources; Create a Class to collaborate with students and teachers.
2. Go to My Portfolio > ? > Sharing Folders-Advanced Options. What are the 3 ways you can share your saved searches (the folders in your Portfolio) with your colleagues at the school and district level? Which one protects your source folder from any changes that get made to the school or district version you create? You can Move, Copy, or Bookmark your folders, but "If, however, you want to keep control of the viewing and changing rights of your folders, Bookmark them and copy the bookmarks to other portfolios, rather than moving or copying your original folders."

3. What are the two powerful things the Teacher role enables you to do that the Student role does not (hint: click on your role)? Share Saved Resources and Create Classes

Thanks to everyone who participated, and congrats again to Janice!

Hello, WY User Group. I could use your help. I'm preparing for my presentation for Schools Needing Impvt Conf March 2-3 in Casper. My presentation is on how to create assignments and projects in netTrekker’s My Portfolio area. I'm looking for a good topic. What are your thoughts on Ancient Egypt, Plains Indians, Civil War? I welcome your ideas and I'll share the finished product with you if you can't make the conference. Thanks for your help.
