If you missed the VERY FIRST Arkansas User Group meeting, don't feel bad - I did too :( Even though I was out sick, Leslie was able to get everyone together and discuss some of the topics we had on tap. Here is a recap:

• Great group of people! We had 18 people register for the meeting and 8 attend.
• Lots of discussions about implementation and training in the cooperatives. Great stuff to focus on and to carry through into the next school year! Here are some suggestions from the meeting:
1. Have a school district technical contact get in touch with either the co-op rep or netTrekker contacts 1:1 to discuss how to best roll it out in their district.
2. Check out the Get Started section of nettrekker.com for great resources to get netTrekker rolled out in your organization.
3. Remember, netTrekker can help you get everyone using the subscription quickly and easily by Bulk Loading usernames and setting up IP access.

• The group liked the suggestions to use bookmarks, parent letters, summer reading list in My Portfolio, as well as other ideas to create awareness & promote summer usage.
• The group spent some time in My Portfolio reviewing all the different training items we have in there. Many of the attendees requested that we copy the Example Projects, folder hierarchy examples, scavenger hunts, etc. that we have in our Portfolio to their cooperative Portfolios. We CAN give you that content to help you understand the power of My Portfolio and all the different ways you can use it, all you have to do is request it. We also have instructions on how to move your own USERNAME among schools in different districts so you can help increase awareness by copying these resources for their schools.

Overall, there was a very good feeling from all of the cooperatives and educators that attended that everyone is training on the features in netTrekker and how to use it. It was also announced that there is a plan to do a summer blitz to contact anyone not yet up and running. Also, it was stressed that all cooperatives and educators can contact us here at netTrekker if they are not yet comfortable reviewing all the start up information or would like to be walked through the implementation items.

Thank you so much to those of you that attended, if you missed it, remember to sign up for the next one in the series at https://lcs.webex.com/mw0305l/mywebex/personalroom/personalroom.do?...

Keep up the good work everyone - Happy netTrekking!

As you know the Arkansas Department of Education purchased a subscription to netTrekker for K-12 students and teachers in Arkansas for 2009-2010 and 2010-2011. This resource is free to you, but we need to continue to get the word out and to learn how to best use this great tool.

You won't have to drive anywhere, just register and "attend" via your computer and phone. Mark your calendar!

netTrekker is pleased to host quarterly user group meetings for educators in the state of Arkansas! These meetings will cover a variety of topics pertaining to using netTrekker in your classroom, school, district or cooperative. All are invited to attend and participate as we work together to personalize learning for all students in Arkansas!

You can register for any meeting with your host, Dawn Crawford, M. Ed. (dcrawford@nettrekker.com) OR by using the following link:

There is no password required and no cost to register for or attend these meetings, so feel free to forward this invitation on to your colleagues so that they can participate as well.

Hi Constance, as discussed, using IP Authentication and Bulk Loading Teacher Usernames are just two easy ways to make access simple for your schools. You can find forms to do both at www.netTrekker.com in the Customer Center> Access. In fact, you'll find info on all the ways you can setup your access there.

Has anyone started their training and if so, how did you set-up your accounts?

Hi. We just added a page of information and games for each state to SpellingCity. It's not spelling, it's more basic state geography info (largest cities, neighboring states). For instance, there's a page with info about Arkansas and some games.

The training yesterday was great! NT is an amazing tool for Arkansas teachers. I'm excited about training teachers to use all of the great features to find, save, and share web-based materials for their classes. Thanks Leslie and Dawn! You both did a wonderful job.
